How to Start in Safe Mode

You should print/or write these instructions before continuing, They will not be available after you shut your computer down.

To Start the Computer in Safe Mode

To get your computer into Safe Mode, click on the start and shut down/restart as normal.
As soon as the computer power button is turned on Press and HOLD the F8 key.
Use the arrow keys to highlight the appropriate safe mode option, and then press ENTER.
NUM LOCK must be off before the arrow keys on the numeric keypad will function.

NOTE: If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot system, choose the installation that you need to access using the arrow keys, and then press ENTER.

In safe mode, you have access to only basic files and drivers (mouse, monitor, keyboard, mass storage, base video, default system services, and no network connections).
Safe mode helps you diagnose problems.

We recommend you run you on pc virus scans in Safe Mode when you can, especially if your suspicious of a existing problem.  Safe Mode can make it possible for you machine to remove files that can not be accessed if they are in use.

These are all great tools, they dont require to be run in Safe Mode and we recommend running these or other types of programs regularly.  Running them in Safe Mode is reccommended if you have a known problem of some sort.
